Vesi Environmental Framework (Vesi Skills And Training Guidelines)

The unit is designed to provide participants with the required skills and knowledge to understand the key principles of effective environmental management on ESI worksite.

The unit will provide information on the legislative and management responsibilities in relation to environmental management. There is a strong focus on the particular needs in relation to effective waste management, sediment control, controlling contaminant spills and gas leaks

This unit is a particular requirement of Victorian Electricity Supply Industry (VESI)

This unit is designed to enable participants to meet the regulatory requirements to enable them to work within the VESI. People seeking work that include working on or in close proximity to the electrical supply networks may be assisted in their efforts to obtain work in these industries by the completion of this course.

Benefits to Business:

Electrical supply network owners require that work undertaken in proximity to their assets is performed by people who are suitably qualified. This unit of competency meets part of that expectation.

The unit provides participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively manage the environmental impact of a work site. It provides training with a qualified trainer that includes practical and theoretical tasks with an emphasis on effective reporting and managing environmental risks within the regulatory framework.

Upon completion of this unit, the participant should be able to:
•Understand the principles of effective environmental management of the work site.
• Contain environmental spills using Spill Kits.
• Appreciate the risks associated with exposure to SF6, PCB and asbestos
• Understand the significance and methods of controlling sediment.

Location: Ringwood (Victoria), Loganholme (Queensland) or organise group training at your worksite

Assessment to be completed: includes both assessment of knowledge and assessment of practical skills.

Licensed or regulated outcomes: On satisfactory completion of assessment, a certificate will be issued.

Review Schedule: Version: 1 - August 2015 to be reviewed August 2017.
