Vesi Safety Framework (Vesi Skills And Training Guidelines)

This unit provides the participant with the knowledge required to have a working understanding, and intention, of the Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) Act, and associated legislations and regulations, as they apply to the ESI environment

The emphasis is on the legal and personal obligations of participants on the work site, including the application of effective risk management processes to mitigate accidents/injuries, in an ESI environment.

The Green and Blue books will be used as primary reference points along with discussion about local policies and practices and how they are impacted by the requirements of the Green and Blue Books.

This unit is a particular requirement of Victorian Electricity Supply Industry (VESI)

This unit is designed to enable participants to meet the regulatory requirements to enable them to work within the VESI framework. People seeking work that include working on, or in close proximity to, the electrical supply networks may be assisted in their efforts to obtain work in these industries by the completion of this course.

Benefits to Business:

Electrical supply network owners require that work undertaken in proximity to their assets is performed by people who are suitably qualified. This unit of competency meets part of that expectation.

The unit provides participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to be able to apply safe work practices, including their duty of care in the workplace, in an ESI environment.

Upon completion of this unit, the participant (when authorised) should be able to:
• Understand their personal and legal obligations on the work site
• Undertake a risk assessment process including the reporting requirements in place for incidents and accidents.
• Understand the risks and precautions to be taken with Asbestos management
• Apply fall protection processes and practices required on the work site.
