uettdrrf03b - Perform Ewp Rescue

This unit covers the performance of rescue procedures from an Elevating Work Platform (EWP) in the work place. It specifies the mandatory requirements of rescue from a raised EWP by a work party member on the ground, and how they apply in the context of transmission, distribution or rail work functions. It encompasses responsibilities for rescue, health, safety and risk management processes at all operative levels and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of doing work.

Upon successful completion of the program, Participants will be deemed competent to:

  • Prepare to perform EWP rescue procedures
  • Carry out EWP rescue procedure
  • Complete the EWP rescue procedure

Benefits to Business:

Electrical supply network owners require that work undertaken in proximity to their assets is performed by people who are suitably qualified. This unit of competency meets part of that expectation.

The unit also provides participants with the necessary skills to effect a EWP rescue and meets the requirements of network owners. It provides training with a qualified trainer that includes practical and theoretical tasks with an emphasis on the practical aspects of undertaking a rescue.

Upon completion of this unit, the participant should be able to:
• Properly assess the risks associated with an EWP rescue
• Complete the rescue procedure including the application of CPR

Location: Loganholme (Queensland), Ringwood (Victoria) or organise group training at your worksite

Assessment to be completed: includes both assessment of knowledge and assessment of practical skills.

Licensed or regulated outcomes: On satisfactory completion of assessment, a statement of attainment will be issued.

Costs and Financial Support or Government subsidies available

Government subsidies for initial and refresher courses may be available and can be discussed on application.
