ptt - Problem Solving And Decision Making

This workshop will aid participants in problem solving and decision making in the course of their work. The concepts of structured and unstructured problem solving will be explored, as well as how intuition might come into play.

A model of problem solving is used which incorporates elements of both structured and unstructured problem solving; participants will have the opportunity to practice some tools and techniques for each state.

Decision making can be hard due to feelings of uncertainty. It is expected that the process of problem solving will help to reduce uncertainty and lead to more confident decision making. To aid this process, this workshop explores some common errors in decision making and ways to overcome them.

The learning outcomes from attending this program will include an ability to:

• Understand the difference between structured and unstructured decision making
• Identify which mental models may affect the way individuals perceive their problems
• Develop an awareness of the problem solving model
• Implement strategies to aid problem solving
• Identify errors that affect decision making
