Practical assessments require you to demonstrate key performance criteria such as:

• Assessing tress using a low-risk access route, harness and lanyard
• Ascending trees using standard climbing techniques such as the Prusik technique and a double rope and the trunk walking technique with foot ascenders
• Descending trees in a controlled manner
• Undertaking a site-specific risk assessment, identifying work health and safety hazards
• Carrying out pre-operational and safety checks on ropes, harnesses and other equipment
• Ensuring work team members are present, capable, willing and equipped to assist or perform aerial rescue operations
• Selecting and using static and dynamic rope and triple locking carabiners
• Cleaning and storing climbing and personal protective equipment
• Using industry standard terminology in work environments.

Assessment are conducted within realistic, workplace settings and are held over the duration of the unit.
