Study Provide first aid in an ESI environment with Interlink

Interlink’s Provide first aid in an ESI environment (UETTDRRF10) course gives you the knowledge, skills and confidence to deal with first aid emergencies within the electrical supply industry.

Learn how to react quickly and provide the necessary first aid, including basic life support, to take care of the casualty until emergency services personnel arrive. All training is set around the most common emergency situations within the electrical sector with assessment scenarios designed to be as close to real life as possible.

Provide first aid in an ESI environment is an accredited course and is recommended for workers within the arboriculture industry, or those involved in vegetation control activities near powerlines and live electrical apparatus.

Electricity supply industry employees are required under legislative regulations to complete this unit and maintain yearly refresher training to work on ESI networks.

What do I get for completing Provide first aid in an ESI environment?

Completing Interlink’s course meets the national requirements for the accredited Unit of Competency UETTDRRF10.

When you complete Provide first aid in an ESI environment (UETTDRRF10) you will receive a Statement of Attainment.

Your nationally accredited UETTDRRF10 certificate needs to be refreshed every 12 months. Interlink offers a reminder service to make sure you meet the standards of the electrical supply industry.

What will I learn during the Provide first aid in an ESI environment course?

Interlink’s course teaches you to respond to first aid emergencies within the electrical supply industry. Learn to evaluate the situation and make clear, prompt decisions on the action required. Assess the victim’s physical condition and their vital signs and provide first aid to stabilise them.

Learn to identify physical hazards and risks to you own and other workers’ safety and to minimise those risks.

Some areas covered during this course include:

  • The DRSABCD first aid method
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
  • Low voltage rescue principles
  • Hazards and risk management
  • First aid protocols for conditions including electrocution, bleeding, burns and bites.

Learn the importance of calm and accurate communication, the right information to provide to emergency services and to evaluate your own skills and limitations.

What sort of assessments can I expect to complete in Provide first aid in an ESI environment?

Interlink’s Provide first aid in an ESI environment (UETTDRRF10) course contains a combination of written and practical assessments.

Assessments test your knowledge and ability to respond in emergency situations such as:

  • Checking the incident site for further dangers (such as electrical wires) to yourself, the casualty and others and minimising the risks
  • Using basic life support measures to keep the casualty safe until medical help arrives
  • Monitoring the casualty’s airway, breathing, circulation and consciousness
  • Demonstrating the correct treatment for conditions including cardio-vascular failure, shock, electrical burns, unconsciousness and bleeding
  • Keeping the casualty comfortable
  • Seeking further help from emergency services or other health professionals.

Practical assessments require you to demonstrate your skills in simulations within ESI specific scenarios. The simulations focus on the most common first aid situations that ESI employees face. All the necessary equipment and resources are provided to give you an experience as close to real-life as possible within our learning environment.

All assessments meet Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines and first aid codes of practice.
