With the widespread rollout of the National Broadband Network (NBN) comes many job opportunities in the telecommunications industry. Our Telecommunications and NBN training – Power awareness course is designed for those beginning their career in telecommunications or looking to add to the experience they already have. It gives students an industry accredited certificate with a focus on working safely near live electrical infrastructure as well as workplace specific first aid training.
What does Interlink’s Power Awareness training include?
Interlink’s Power awareness course for the telecommunications industry includes the following units:
- HLTAID003 – Provide first aid (cannot be refreshed – has to be completed every three years)
- HLTAID001 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- UETTDRRF10B – Provide First Aid in an ESI Environment
- ICTWHS203 – Work safely near power infrastructure
- UETTDREL14A – Working safely near live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker
- UETTDRRF08B – Perform EWP controlled descent escape
- UETTDRRF03B – Perform EWP rescue
- UETTDRRF02B – Perform pole top rescue
- RIIWHS204E – Work safely at heights (optional)
- Safe to climb and strand rescue.
Our Power awareness course is designed to meet the safety training requirements established by the telecommunications industry. It will teach you to develop and follow safe work practices surrounding the installation of above or below ground telecommunications cables.

Entry Requirements
There are no prerequisites for Interlink’s Initial Power awareness course for the telecommunications industry. It is available through direct entry.
To complete a Refresher Power awareness course, all student/s will need to provide proof of completing all units within the last 12 months.
To successfully complete these courses participants will need intermediate literacy and numeracy skills.
