Perform EWP rescue (UETTDRRF03)

Training | Course | Certificate

Study Perform EWP rescue at Interlink

Perform EWP rescue (UETTDRRF03) gives you the skills and knowledge required to conduct a rescue from a raised elevated work platform (EWP).

Interlink’s course covers the emergency procedures necessary to bring an injured or incapacitated person safely to the ground, including all health, safety and risk management processes.

Preparation and planning when coordinating an EWP rescue give you the confidence to act calmly and effectively. Learn to carry out a rescue operation that ensures the safety of the casualty and all rescue personnel.

What do I get for completing Perform EWP rescue?

Completing Interlink’s course meets the national requirements for the accredited Unit of Competency (UETTDRRF03).

Perform EWP rescue (UETTDRRF03) is a component within Interlink’s Power awareness course. You will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment when you successfully complete this course as well as an industry accredited certificate with a focus on working safely near live electrical infrastructure.

What will I learn during Perform EWP rescue?

Interlink’s course teaches you to assess and respond to an emergency situation involving an elevated work platform (EWP). It teaches you the importance of understanding and following workplace procedures in emergency situations to ensure the safety of the casualty and all ground team members.

Plan your EWP rescue by undertaking a situation specific risk assessment. Assess the effect the EWP operation, transmission, distribution and rail function could have on your rescue. Check the safety and functionality of your tools and make sure they are accessible.

Learn how to follow workplace procedures when hazards, such as live electrical apparatus, are involved. Follow all guidelines for removing the injured or incapacitated person from the EWP. Carry out cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) at the site if required, and contact emergency services to organise professional medical treatment.

What sort of assessments can I expect to complete?

Interlink’s Perform EWP rescue (UETTDRRF03) course contains a combination of written and practical assessments.

Written assessments test your knowledge of the emergency procedures for an EWP rescue including:

  • Inspecting and placing rescue equipment
  • Assessing and controlling risks and hazards to the casualty, rescuer and all team members
  • Safe approach distances (SAD)
  • Involving external emergency services
  • Emergency retrieval systems
  • Practical steps to carrying out a rescue and getting an injured or unconscious person to a safe place.

Practical assessments assess your ability to demonstrate performance criteria such as:

  • Applying risk control measures and other work health and safety practices
  • Finding and following EWP operational instructions
  • Checking and maintaining emergency equipment for use on an EWP rescue
  • Lowering the EWP and relocating the injured or incapacitated person to safety.

Assessment are conducted within realistic, workplace settings and are held over the duration of the unit.
